Soundboarding with Tom Ketley, FLY:

From a corporate career to creating FLY, a brand that is now a main contender on the UK and European music and festival scene.

Date: Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020

Time: 8pm London/Dublin // 12pm PST

Duration: 1hr 15mins | 40-minute talk + x2 rounds of Soundboard matches (10 mins each)

What is Soundboard?

Soundboard is a platform to help the people in our community find inspiration, shift perspectives, and expand any self-limiting beliefs that might be holding you back from a more fulfilled and content life. The tool that we use to do this is through a meaningful exchange of experience.

We bring together thought leaders, creatives, founders, and business owners who are doing something brilliant to hear how they achieved what they have, the defining experiences that got them there and who were the Soundboards that helped them on their way?

Building connections with likeminded people is the heart of Soundboard, how else can we learn, inspire, and motivate each other? That's why we always include two 10 minute Speed Soundboarding Sessions – an opportunity for our dedicated team to handpick someone else at the event for you to talk to based on your interests, background, or personal/professional goals.

This Soundboard session is designed to appeal to anyone who likes music, festivals and club culture. If you have ever been curious about what it might take to create a successful music festival, bringing in world-class DJs such as Peggy Gou, Nina Kraviz and DJ Koze while also empowering local DJs, then you’ll enjoy this session.

You will find this particularly interesting if you have aspirations to work in the festival or nightlife scene. Tom will share his story from starting off as a local club night to becoming a huge contender on the UK and European festival circuit - which will hopefully inspire any music lovers out there

How it works:

  • At the point of sign up, you will be asked to fill in a form that looks a bit like this. The information you provide is used to match you with another event attendee for your Speed Soundboarding Sessions.

  • You will receive an overview of who your matches are ahead of the event so you’re not going in blind.

  • Don’t worry, there will be no awkward conversations because we give you a topic to discuss with your match so no last-minute scrambling for what to say.

  • You make genuine connections and meet people you already have something in common with - we handpick a match for you based on pre-shared criteria which means you can skip the small talk and get right to the good stuff.

Don't let the fear of meeting someone new scare you off, guaranteed inspiration or your money back!

You should attend this event if...

  • You're interested in music, festivals and club culture.

  • You've ever been curious about what it might take to set up a music festival or find ways to empower your local music scene.

More about our speaker:

This session welcomes Tom Ketley, Founder of FLY Events and FLY Open Air Festival. Fly, starting out as a weekly club night, has since evolved to encompass a bi-annual, 2-day festival in two beautiful locations in Edinburgh. Dates have also been set to bring FLY abroad to locations in Amsterdam and Ibiza for summer 2021.

We will hear about Tom's journey of growing FLY from an Edinburgh club night to a huge contender in the UK music club & festival scene. Attracting world-class DJs such as Peggy Gou and Nina Kraviz to name a few, while also serving as a springboard for Scottish DJs such as Denis Sulta, Jasper James and Theo Kottis.

FLY lineups are always credible and forward thinking. Not just down to the music, its about taste, what looks good, feels good, what sounds good, what atmospheres are good which is something Tom has managed to maintain through all his events.
